Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are located 10 minutes south of Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park or about 100 miles south west of Chicago. Our property is host to 17 cabins of varying sizes throughout 65 acres of beautiful wooded property on a bluff above the Vermilion River. View our property map.
Do you provide rentals all year round?
Yes, we are open all year round. Our off-season rates are from December 1st – March 31st and our prime season rates are from April 1st – November 30th. View our rates page.
Do you rent week nights or just weekends?
Both! We are open 7 days a week and take reservations for both week nights and weekends. Because we are a family-run business, we do not break up the weekends. Therefore, Friday and Saturday nights must be booked together. Book your reservations online.
Are you pet-friendly?
We are dog friendly! We have 4 cabins specific to our dog customers. You must read through and be okay with our dog policies listed in each of the dog friendly cabin pages on our website as we are firm with those. Each dog will add an additional $15 plus tax per night to your reservation. Simply list 1 or 2 dogs in the pet field when booking on-line and the system will add the fee for you. View our dog policies.
Are the rates listed on your website per night or total of the two-day visit?
If you are on the “Rates” tab on our website, it lists a weeknight rate and weekend rate. The weekend rate is for 2 nights because you must rent Friday & Saturday nights together. Those are pre-tax prices. If you are on our availability/booking calendar, the price it is showing you is for however many nights you selected.
What are your week/weekend prices?
The price depends on the cabin style you rent, how many days you plan to stay and how many adults/kids and/or dogs you are looking to accommodate. In prime season, prices range from $120 – $450 plus tax per night, weekends range from $145 – $450 plus tax per night. We don’t do long term rentals here. Book your reservations online.
What all comes complimentary with my cabin rental?
Each cabin rental comes equipped with basic pots, pans, cooking utensils, and dishes in the kitchen, a covered porch (most with porch swings), a personal outdoor fire pit, an indoor wood stove or gas fireplace (for wintertime use only; contact us for details), and much more!
Are there any other things to do around the area outside of the State Parks?
Yes, we are just a short drive from the following: breweries, wineries, canoe rentals, ziplining, horseback riding, antique shops, spas, shopping and many dive bar or fine dining establishments! For more information, visit our Things to Do Page.
Do you cater to large families or reunions?
Yes! Our Illini and Trading Posts cabins are perfect for large families and can accommodate up to 6 or 8 adults/kids combinations. Our most popular family cabin is Grandma’s Cabin because it can accommodate up to 14 people. I’d HIGHLY RECOMMEND you plan ahead for these 3 cabins as they always book far in advance. If you book 7 nights, you get one night FREE! For more information on those cabins, check it out.
Do you allow bachelor or bachelorette parties?
Due to the nature of our cabins and the respect to the privacy of our renters, we do not host prom rentals, spring break groups, or bachelor/bachelorette parties. If you are a group of friends looking for a getaway, everyone in the group must be a minimum age of 28 years old to rent with us. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you are a couple looking to stay with us you must both be a minimum age of 21 years old to rent with us and looking for the peace and quiet getaway we are offering our guests.
Where on your booking engine can we take advantage of a Promo Code?
On the home page of the booking engine, there is an area to enter a promotional code in the Special Rates drop down. Enter your promo code here before selecting “search.”

Sorry, no we do not.
Do you have a pool on the property?
We don’t have a pool on property, but plenty of open space on the property for outdoor fun and games.
Can you fish on your property?
No. Some people fish the bank at the bottom of “The killer hill” as I call it. It’s doable for most people. You have to bring all your own bait & tackle.
Is there a place close to camp with horses?
Cedar Creek Ranch is just a 15-minute drive from us. They are in Cedar Point and they have a restaurant right on site.
Are your cabins by the water?
Our property sits on a bluff above the Vermillion River. You have to hike to get down there. None of the cabins sit directly on the water.
Do you offer Gift Certificates?
Yes, we offer gift certificates and they can be purchased for any dollar amount directly through our website. Get your gift certificates online.
