Enjoy Dog Friendly Cabins in Illinois

If you’re looking for the perfect getaway to go on with your pooch you just found it! Kishauwau Cabins offers four dog-friendly Illinois cabins just a quick 10 minute drive from both Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks. Plus, Kishauwau Cabins is a dogs’ haven with plenty of room for taking him/her for walks. If your dogs’ lifestyle and behavior fits the policies listed below, we’ll be overjoyed to welcome you with your dog here at Kishauwau.

We Offer Four Dog Friendly Cabins

All four of our dog friendly cabins offer a spacious studio atmosphere with one queen bed as well as a fold out futon in the living space. All accommodate a firm maximum of either 3 adults or 2 adults/2 smaller kids. These popular cabins fill up quickly, so book as far in advance as possible, especially for summer months. The Commanche, Winnebago and Zonta cabins offer huge whirlpool tubs in the bathrooms for added luxury. Our Mother-in-law cabin is the least expensive dog cabin as it has a standard tub/shower combination. We only allow these cabins to be booked by our guests with dogs unless there are no other cabins available that can accommodate your group.

Dog Rental Policies

Any dog adds an additional $20 plus tax per night to the reservation. You must add the number of pets when booking online. Sorry, dogs are the only pets we allow at our Cabins near Starved Rock. There is a two dog maximum per cabin and each dog will be charged per night.

We have a total of 17 cabins on Kishauwau property and unfortunately not everyone is a canine person. Many people are afraid of dogs or have severe allergies. If we have to spend extra time cleaning your cabin due to your dogs a fee will be charged to your card accordingly.

We ask that the following policies be agreed to before you book with your dog. You can do so by noting it in the comments section when booking online or to us directly if booking by phone please.

  • We ask that only friendly dogs visit us. If your dog is not good around other dogs or people this is not the getaway for them.  (Here at Kishauwau Cabins we are big dog lovers.  We have 2 sister Golden Retrievers named Pretzel & Millie.  You might meet them in our office or around the property.  They are both very friendly.  This is their home so they are not leashed.)
  • Your dog must be leashed at all times while outside on our property and only be outside when you are with them.
  • No major barkers please. If your dog is prone to barking at other dogs, wildlife or people we ask that you not book a stay here with your dog as this would be a nuisance to other guests and detracts from the peaceful setting.
  • To keep things in good shape for future visitors, we ask that dogs not be on our furniture or in the beds.
  • If you plan to leave your dog alone in your cabins we require that you crate them. Crates not provided.
  • We ask that you not bring your dog inside our office for consideration of other guests.
  • All dogs must be up-to-date on their shots and free of fleas to stay here.

Explore the Area with Your Pup

Don’t forget to head out to the state parks with your dog as well. They welcome your dog on their miles of hiking trails as long as you have them on a leash. So check out Starved Rock State Park or Matthiessen State Park. Some trails may not be dog friendly so be sure to look into that before coming.
