Our Starved Rock lodging cabins include the following:
- Full kitchen with basic pots and pans, cooking utensils, & dishes
- Flat screen TV with DVD player
- Covered porch with porch swing, except on 4 largest cabins
- Personal outdoor bonfire pit, picnic table and charcoal grill (gas grill at Jack’s Deluxe Cabin)
- All linens are provided
- Thermostat controlled heating and cooling
- Option to add our bed and breakfast package
Prices do not include tax (6% state and 5% county). Rates are subject to change without notice. Our Illinois cabin pricing is currently at a flat rate, not charged per person. Please verify your reservation information. You are responsible for dates booked online. Special requests and cabin location preferences will be noted but not guaranteed.
Cancellations made more than 21 days prior to arrival will result in a refund of deposit minus a $25 cancellation fee per cabin. Cancellations made within the 21 day non-cancellation periods will result in the forfeiture of the total amount of the reservation regardless of reason. *Note: Grandma’s cabin has a 90 day cancellation policy. We still take final payment on Grandma’s cabin 21 days before arrival but if you are cancelling with the 90 day arrival window on Grandma’s cabin, remaining due would be taken at that time and refund will only be given if we are able to refill the reservation. If reserving for a wedding, reunion, or some other common event, there is a 90 day cancellation policy with the same conditions imposed for each cabin in the group.
All reservations require a 50% deposit at the time the reservation is made. The remaining 50% will automatically be billed to the credit card on file at the time of cancellation cutoff. *Note: If reserving within the cancellation period, the full amount is due at the time of booking. Kishauwau Cabins guarantees availability of cabin or cabins reserved; guest guarantees payment for all dates reserved. Sorry, no refunds for early departure.
We take pride in providing a clean and welcoming environment for our guests without charging extra cleaning fees. To maintain this, we kindly request that you leave the cabins in the same condition as you found them upon arrival. In the event that excessive cleaning is required beyond the standard cleaning time, we reserve the right to apply additional charges to cover the costs incurred by our cleaning staff.
If you will be joining us for the weekend, please plan to enjoy your entire Saturday with us. We cannot accommodate check-in or out on Saturday — if the system is giving you an error message, it is either because there is no availability or you are attempting to arrive or depart on a Saturday. Even if the system allows you to book it you will be contacted by us to change your dates. Always feel free to contact us in our off season (Dec. – May) as we might make an exception. Usually not until right before the weekend though.
Check-in and Check-out
Check-in begins at 4:00 PM. Check-out time is always 11:00 AM. We are running a convenient self check-in process at Kishauwau Cabins. You will receive the details of this process in your Final Payment email.
Children are welcome but must be supervised by an adult. Please always mind the noise level out of respect for your neighbors. Also, keep in mind that you are coming to the woods where there are things like poison ivy and itch weed are present. If there are concerns, please ask us.
Due to the nature of our cabins and the type of getaway we are offering, we do not host prom rentals, spring break groups, or bachelor/bachelorette parties. If you are a group of friends looking for a getaway, everyone in the group must be a minimum age of 28 years old to rent with us. If you are a couple looking to stay with us you must both be a minimum age of 21 years old to rent with us and looking for the peace and quiet getaway we are offering our guests. Outdoor music is frowned upon here. Only the maximum amount of guests stated on the cabin you booked are allowed.
Daytime visitors are limited to keep this the getaway we are offering to our guests. No more than 1 couple may visit any cabin without prior approval from Kishauwau Management. No visitor may bring animals with them.
Smoking is not allowed in the cabins. If we smell tobacco smoke or see signs of smoking in the cabin, you will be charged a $200 cleaning fee.
Pet Friendly Lodging
We have four cabins that are dog friendly. Sorry, dogs are the only pets we allow. Please adhere to our Dog Rental Policies.
No Tents or Camping
No tents or any other forms of overnight camping are allowed on our grounds. All lodging must be within our cabins near Chicago and may not exceed the stated maximum occupancy limit.
Kishauwau Cabins will not be held responsible for items left behind, lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Kishauwau will only mail items back to you if you mail us a pre-paid or flat rate box. You would need to self-address it and mail it to us with a note of what was left. Always check with us to make sure the item is here before doing so.
You are responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property belonging to Kishauwau Cabins. Please take care of your cabin and treat it as you would your own home. If we have to shampoo the carpet for any reason, there will be a charge of $100.
Kishauwau Cabins, a wooded oasis located in Tonica, IL near Starved Rock State Park, warmly welcomes all guests. However, due to the topography of our property and the nature of our cabins, we are not completely wheelchair accessible. Removal of necessary physical barriers for complete accessibility is not readily achievable as such removal would threaten or destroy the nature of the property.
The physical barriers include the following:
- The walkway from the parking area to the front door has some level changes.
- One must navigate a gravel drive or a natural pathway that is not surfaced.
- Most cabins have one step up to enter the cabins.
- Cabins offer tub/shower combinations or step-in showers.
- Jack’s Deluxe Whirlpool Cabin required the navigation of a flight of steps to the second level. There is not an elevator in this cabin.
So all guests can enjoy Kishauwau Cabins, significant steps have been taken to remove barriers where possible at our property. We offer the following for those with limited disabilities:
- All Cabins are stand alone cabins with private entrances.
- All Cabins include a full kitchen for meal preparation.
- Individual thermostats are located in all cabins.
Our goal is to ensure that anyone who wishes to visit Kishauwau Cabins can do so, regardless of their physical abilities. Among the ways we strive to comply with the ADA:
- It is our standard operating procedure that individuals with disabilities be able to make reservations for an accessible accommodation during the same hours and in the same manner as individuals who do not need an accessible room.
- We have identified and described accessible features as well as physical barriers with enough detail to allow individuals with disabilities to determine independently whether a given guest room or cottage meets their accessibility needs.
- It is our standard operating procedure to ensure that our accessible guest room option is held for use by individuals with disabilities. However, we protect our clients’ right to privacy of disclosure.
- We guarantee that an accessible guest room, once reserved, is held for the reserving customer and is removed from all reservation systems. We make reasonable efforts with third-party reservation systems to ensure that an accessible room is available through at least some of these services and that information concerning the accessibility of the room is included on their reservation platform.
- Guests with legitimate service dogs will be provided access to all areas of the inn where members of the public are allowed to go.
