Take a Hike

Sandstone Point Overlook: Moderate – 4.3 Miles
Easily the most popular hike in the park, and for good reason, Starved Rock boasts gorgeous views of the River Valley below.
Ottawa Canyon: Moderate – 3.9 Miles
Home to a breathtaking waterfall, Ottawa Canyon isn’t as busy as the other trails as it’s further away from the main visitor center, and it can be a relaxing and fun trail for those willing to make the trek. When you reach the waterfall, you can even go behind it for a unique view.
Eagle Cliff Overlook: Moderate – 3 Miles
The view from atop the overlook is simply unmatched. It has a breathtaking vista that is very popular with park visitors, so it’s recommended to try and get there early if possible to avoid the crowds.

Enjoy Dinner & A Horseback Ride
Spend a day at Cedar Creek Ranch, just 15 minutes from our cabins near Starved Rock and take a trail ride with their experienced guides and enjoy stunning views of the area’s flora and fauna. Afterward, return for a delicious trail dinner and explore some of the other activities available, including their famous Goat Yoga, which is just as fun as it sounds! Pedal & Paddle
Bike along the canal or take to the water and see the area’s waterways from a kayak! Bikes can be rented on an hourly basis from one of Canal National Heritage Area’s bike stations and are a great way to see more of the area around Starved Rock and the nearby towns. Rent a kayak and see the Park’s beautiful rock formations, sandstone bluffs, and other natural features on an aquatic adventure! They also offer guided kayak tours for anyone interested in learning more about the Park and its geological history.

Learn Something New with a Tour
