How to Bake

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 425. In a small bowl, combine butter, shortening, and sugar, mix until fluffy. Add eggs and mix well. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl, add wet ingredients, and mix until just combined. Separate into two large rounds of dough, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least three hours.

Step 2

Remove from refrigerator and let the dough rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes.

Step 3

Roll out dough on a well-floured surface to between ⅛ – ¼ thickness. Cut out fun shapes in the dough with your favorite Christmas cookies cutters.

Step 4

Bake in the now preheated 425 oven for six minutes. Watch them closely and do not let them brown or they will be overdone and not the soft and chewy consistency we are looking for!

Step 5

Frost with your favorite icing (we recommend making it yourself for the best flavor) and remember to give each cookie a nice hearty layer on top for proper Christmas cookies. Decorate as you wish and enjoy. These wonderful sugar cookies are delightfully sweet and make a wonderful accompaniment to a nice tall glass of milk. Don’t forget to leave a plate out for Santa!
